Hive Tyrant

Warhammer 40k Tyranid Hive Tyrant model assembled and painted up by me. used citadel paints ushabti bone, sotek green(which looks friggin blue to me) and screamer pink. there are several layers of blue wash and brown wash to simulate wear, dirt and grime. plus the blue wash helps the screamer pink not look quite so pink. i lighten the sotek green gradually while doing the feathering on the chitin, usually at least 3 layers of feathering to make a nice gradient towards the edge of each plate.

here you can see my disaster zone of a desk, what a mess. this hive tyrant has wings, and there was no slot to put the second set of arms in due to the placement of the wings. so i made room for them and in they went anyway. this model has been pinned together for sturdiness and a heavier stainless steel base put on it. i've broken him so many times while playing that my buddy went the extra mile to ensure no more breakings. thanks for pinning him, greg!
